We have prepared a short blog post that you may find helpful during your stay in Conwy. A bit of History Conwy castle was built by Edward I, during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289 and the town is fully enclosed by a defensive wall. Our cottage is located inside the town walls, and because Conwy is a small town, everything in the town is accessible on foot within 5 minutes or less. Upper Gate

The Town Wall Upper Gate is the entrance to the largest section of town wall and is at the top of Upper Gate Street, only 100 yards away from our cottage.  Steps lead up to the wall (where there are great views over the town to the castle and in the distance, the Snowdonia national park mountains), and you can continue walking all the way down to the quay. The Upper Gate has been the  traditional entrance to the town for couples on their way to the church to be married.                                              ...........and is now often used for wedding photos …
